Fans of Kesha have no doubt been feeling pretty upset that there’s been no new music from the singer for quite some time now. With the last few years seeing her fighting a bitter legal battle against her former producer Dr. Luke, Kesha had been pretty quiet on the music front. Now, with the legal battles behind her, Kesha has released her cathartic comeback single ‘Praying’.
‘Praying’ sees Kesha try to come to grips with everything that has happened to her over the last few years. Written by Kesha, Macklemore collaborator Ryan Lewis, and Aussie Ben Abraham, the track is being seen by many as Kesha’s way of leaving all the negativity of the last few years behind, with hopes that she can now move on as a free musician. Kesha has also stated that the song is “about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”
It takes a lot of courage for a musician to go through such pain and hardships, and come out the other side inspired to make brilliant music about the experience. While Kesha’s previous legal battles might not have given her the result that she wanted, at least now she is able to return to writing and performing powerful, inspirational music the way that she wants to. Frankly, we couldn’t be prouder of how she has handled it all.
Be sure to check out ‘Praying’ below, and prepare yourself for Kesha’s long-awaited third album, Rainbow, which is due next month.
